Jun 29   Small Talk Thursday with Bill Rancic
Topic: Finding Business Success: Keys to Growing Your Business

Join Capital One at the Café for a presentation by Bill Rancic (an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and Chicago real estate developer) focusing on finding business success and growing your business.

Before he became a well-known businessman, Bill Rancic was an entrepreneur looking to achieve success.

That business, Cigars Around the World, did succeed and eventually became a multi-million dollar enterprise – and helped kick start Bill’s passion for small business.

In this Small Talk Thursday, Bill Rancic will share his best practices for small business success, and the lessons he has learned along the way from the pancake business he started with his grandmother at age 10 to his current ventures as small business spokesman, restaurant owner and real estate developer.

Appetizers and refreshments will be available. After the talk, Bill will also be signing his book “Beyond the Lemonade Stand: Starting Small to Make It Big.”

Sep 20   CAPS Hospitality Subcommittee Meeting

Topic: DePaul University Students

CAPS stands for Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. This successful program is a partnership between the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and local communities. CAPS, which began in 1993, “brings the police, the community, and other City agencies together to identify and solve neighborhood crime problems, rather than simply react to their symptoms after the fact.” Read more about CAPS at the CPD website.

The idea of forming a CAPS Hospitality Subcommittee for Lincoln Park businesses came as the direct result from feedback the LPCC received from bar and restaurant members who wanted an ongoing forum to discuss items relating to the hospitality industry. The businesses also wanted a way to receive information in a timely matter about issues such as city ordinances, state laws, liquor licenses, security and neighborhood concerns. This subcommittee helps establish better synergy and communication between the City of Chicago, Chicago Police Department and Lincoln Park bar and restaurant owners and managers.
